Chemical drain openers vs. bacteria and enzymes

On a private septic system, harsh chemicals end up in the tank. 4-in-One cleans your plumbing biologically and supports the system it drains into.

Common approach

Harsh chemical drain cleaners

  • Dissolve clogs with caustic or acidic chemicals
  • Wash those chemicals into the septic tank
  • Add no beneficial bacteria to the tank

This treatment

Nature's Pond 4-in-One

  • Adds beneficial bacteria and enzymes
  • Cleans pipes on the way down, then keeps working in the tank
  • Safe for people, pets, livestock and wildlife when used as directed

Beneficial bacteria and enzymes metabolize the fats, oils and grease that clog pipes and plumbing.

In the septic tank, it breaks down organic matter to reduce solid waste and sludge.

Cleaner effluent

Reduces excess nutrients, including phosphates and nitrates, in the liquid effluent discharged back into the ground.

Fewer clogs and odors

Helps reduce clogs and bad odors in drains, plumbing and appliances.

Made for rural properties

The label gives doses for household drains, outhouses, portable toilets and RVs, from the farmhouse to the hunting cabin.

Questions and answers

Farm and cabin septic treatment FAQ

Using 4-in-One on farm, cabin and rural septic systems.

What does 4-in-One do for a rural septic system?
It cleans drains and plumbing on the way to the tank, then keeps working in it. The ultra-concentrated blend of beneficial bacteria and enzymes metabolizes fats, oils and grease, helps reduce odors, breaks down organic solids and sludge, and reduces excess nutrients in the liquid effluent discharged back into the ground.
How much 4-in-One should I use?
For household toilets, sinks and drains, add 1 liter (about 1 quart) every 8 weeks. For dishwashers and washing machines, add 0.25 liter (about 8 fl oz) every 8 weeks. Follow the application chart on the label for other uses.
Can I use it in an outhouse, portable toilet or RV?
Yes. For outhouse toilets not connected to a septic system, mix 0.25 liter (about 8 fl oz) into 10 liters (about 2.6 gallons) of water every 3 weeks. For portable outdoor toilets, add 1 liter (about 1 quart) after each cleaning. For RVs, add 0.25 liter (about 8 fl oz) after each cleaning.
Can it be used in a manure pit or sewage lagoon?
Yes. The recommended rate for farms, manure pits and sewage lagoons is 4 liters (about 1 gallon) diluted 1:10 in water every 4 weeks. For busy hog, chicken and cattle barns, the rate is 0.125 liter (about 4 fl oz) each day.
Is it safe around livestock and wildlife?
Yes, when used as directed. The label states it is safe for people, pets, livestock, fish, birds and wildlife when used as directed. The concentrate may irritate eyes and skin, so wear gloves and eye protection when pouring and keep it out of reach of children.
Will 4-in-One reduce how often I need to pump?
Don't count on it. A septic treatment is not a substitute for pumping, so keep up regular inspection and pumping as recommended for your system. Use 4-in-One between service visits to help break down organic waste.
How should I store it at a cabin or seasonal property?
Keep it tightly closed in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place at room temperature, and do not let it freeze. If the cabin is unheated in winter, bring the container home at the end of the season. It has a long shelf life. Keep it out of reach of children.
Do I need gloves or eye protection?
Yes. Wear gloves and eye protection when pouring, and avoid contact with your eyes and skin. If it splashes in your eyes, rinse with plenty of water for several minutes and get medical attention if irritation persists. Wash your hands afterward, and see the label and safety data sheet for full first aid.
