Our story
Harnessing the wind for cleaner water since 1988.
Koenders Water Solutions Inc. began on the Saskatchewan prairie with one stubborn problem and one elegant answer: keep a farm dugout healthy using nothing but the wind.

Where it began
A windmill, a dugout, and a better idea
In 1988, keeping a farm dugout healthy meant hauling in treatments or running power to places the grid did not reach. Koenders Water Solutions Inc. started with a simpler, more durable answer: let the prairie wind do the work.
By pioneering the farm-dugout windmill aerator, we made it possible to oxygenate water anywhere the wind blows, with no power line and no harsh chemicals. That founding principle still runs through every system we build today.
Where it began
Built on the prairie, proven in the field
A dugout on the open prairie is one of the hardest places to keep water healthy. It sits far from the nearest outlet, freezes hard through winter, and stagnates fast in summer heat. The wind, though, is almost always there. Our founders built a windmill that turned that wind into moving, oxygenated water, then refined it on real dugouts through real Saskatchewan seasons.
Runs on wind alone
Oxygenates from the bottom up

The journey
From a single windmill to aeration at every scale
A wind-powered idea that grew into a full line of aeration.
- 1988The beginning
Windmill aeration is born
Koenders Water Solutions Inc. is founded on the Saskatchewan prairie, pioneering the wind-powered farm-dugout aerator to keep dugouts and ponds healthy, with no power line and no harsh chemicals.

- Following yearsMore ways to aerate
Solar and electric join the lineup
As operators asked for options, electric and solar aeration followed, matching the right power source to each site, from grid-connected ponds to fully off-grid water.
- TodayFrom koi ponds to lagoons
Aeration at every scale
The same natural, oxygen-first approach now serves acreages, golf courses, aquaculture and municipal water, engineered since 1988 and shipped from our US locations in Huntingburg, Indiana and Albion, New York.

- What's nextThe mission continues
Reliable water, in more places
We keep engineering for the real world: durable aeration, without harsh chemicals, for the sites and operators that depend on it.
What has not changed
The founding idea, still at work
Three decades on, the same principles guide every system we ship.
Let nature do the work
Aeration adds oxygen and lets natural processes balance the water. It is a mechanical approach, not a chemical one.
Build it to last
Equipment gets tested against hard winters, remote sites and demanding operators before it earns a place in the lineup.
Fit the site, not the catalog
Wind, solar or electric, small pond or large lagoon: we size the system to the water rather than the other way around.
The wind was free, the water needed oxygen, and the nearest power line was miles away. The solution almost designed itself, and it still works.
